This year's beneficiarie's

On Sunday April 16th, the Fundacion Don Tomas, with the support of the Lightning Cross Country Booster Club, The Miami Road Runners Club, and Shape up with Schiffy, will host our third annual 5K Run/Walk at The Ives Estates Park, located at 20901 N.E. 16th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33179.

This year, our race will benefit the Broward Partnership for the Homeless, which opened its Central Homeless Assistance Center at 920 N.W. 7 in 1999 and has helped more than 19,500 homeless individuals and their families. In addition to providing hot meals and a place to stay, the organization provides:

  • Vocational training, job coaching and job placement assistance
  • Primary medical and dental care
  • Mental health and substance abuse intervention and treatment
  • Family therapy, support groups and parenting education
  • Computer skills training
  • Practical Life Skills Classes
  • and other services that assist the homeless in reacquiring health, housing and employment as quickly as possible.

The proceeds from this event will provide support and funding for the operation of that organization. These donations are critical to assist in maintaining the operational standards and vision that the Broward Partnership for the Homeless promotes.
